Abstract

Mushrooms are higher fungi with a delicious flavor and high nutritional value. They are a type of dietary element that can assist us in tackling problems with good nutrition, health and environmental sustainability. Nowadays mushrooms are an important source of food and medicine because they are low in calories, carbohydrates, fat, sodium and cholesterol. It has significant amounts of protein, fiber, vitamins, mineral nutrients and bioactive molecules. Fungi extracts are sources of medicinal compounds that have played a significant part in the preservation of human health ever since the dawn of time. In pharmaceutical industries drug research programmers heavily rely on natural products, which are the source of more than 50% of all contemporary clinical drugs. Mushrooms can be used as a source for biotherapeutics, which in turn can aid in the creation of new drugs, due to the presence of a significant number of secondary metabolites.
